Part of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Uluru, also commonly known as Ayers Rock, is located in Australia's red centre and is the country's most recognizable landmark. The enormous monolith sits as a huge block of rock in the desert and above ground measures 3.6 km (2.2 mi) long by 1.9 km (1.2 mi) wide by 348 m (1141 ft) high.
